Blue is the Slushy Bro people ask about the most and the one we can explain the least. Meet Blue: questions we still don’t have answers to, collected from about three years of comments, DMs and one increasingly chaotic whiteboard in the studio. Some of these have partial answers, some have theories, and a few have nothing at all.
We kept a running tally because the same questions came back week after week. Roughly 40 percent of the comments on any Blue-heavy video ask one of five things. The rest are people arguing with each other about what Blue meant by a shrug.
What We Can Actually Confirm About Blue
Blue showed up in the fourth video we ever filmed, standing slightly behind everyone else, and has held roughly that same position in frame ever since. The costume came from the same batch as the others, so there was no grand design decision behind the color. Blue picked it because it was the last one in the bag.
Here is the short list of things we are confident about:
- Blue speaks less than anyone else, averaging under eight words per video across our last 50 uploads.
- Blue has never once broken a cup, which is a record nobody else on the crew is close to.
- Blue handles the machine more often than the rest of us combined, mostly because of an incident involving a blender lid.
- Blue’s reaction shots outperform everyone else’s by a wide margin in watch time, and we have no idea why that is.
Everything past that gets murky fast. If you want the opposite end of the personality spectrum, we already wrote up Red, the Slushy Bro who probably shouldn’t be in charge, and the contrast explains a lot about how the group functions.
Why Blue Never Talks First
This is the single most asked question we get, and the honest answer is that it started as an accident. Early on our audio setup had one decent mic, so whoever stood closest to it did the talking. Blue stood where the light was better and the habit stuck.
Now it is something closer to a rule. Blue waits until someone else has committed to a bad idea, then reacts, and that reaction is usually the part people clip. We have tested putting Blue in the lead position four separate times and the videos performed noticeably worse each time.
The part we still cannot answer: nobody knows whether Blue is doing this on purpose. We have asked directly, on camera, twice. Both times the answer was a nod that could be read as yes or as a man adjusting a costume hood.
The Blue Raspberry Question That Has No Good Answer
Every few weeks somebody asks why blue raspberry is blue when raspberries are not. This is a real question with a frustrating answer, and it has nothing to do with us.
Blue raspberry flavoring became common in the 1970s largely so frozen treat makers could tell flavors apart on a shelf, since cherry and strawberry and raspberry were all competing for the same red. The color most often used is Blue No. 1, also called Brilliant Blue FCF, which the FDA covers in its color additives questions and answers. The flavor itself is loosely based on a real berry, the whitebark raspberry, which is not blue either.
So the color is a merchandising decision from fifty years ago that everybody’s taste buds now accept as fact. We still get comments insisting blue raspberry is a distinct fruit. We have stopped arguing.
If you want the actual drink side of things rather than the trivia, our frozen drink lineup covers what we mix and what ratios hold up for an hour outside.

Questions From The Comments We Genuinely Cannot Answer
These come up constantly. We have read through hundreds of them and sorted the ones that keep returning:
- Does Blue sleep in the costume? Unconfirmed. The costume has been seen in three different cars and one laundromat.
- Is Blue the oldest? We have never gotten a straight answer, and the two birth years Blue has given are eleven months apart.
- Why does Blue drink out of the same cup every time? There is a story here and Blue will not tell it.
- Has Blue ever been angry on camera? Once, briefly, during the tailgate shoot in October. The footage no longer exists.
- Did Blue plan the thing with the ladder? No comment from anyone involved, including the person who owned the ladder.
Searching the name online does not help either. Type “Blue” into anything and you get the Blue Tree Project, comics writer Jen Van Meter, a dozen sports teams and about four million songs. We are somewhere on page nine.
What Blue Does When Filming Stops
The thing that surprises people who visit the studio is how much of the setup Blue handles. Camera positions, the order we shoot bits in, which take actually gets used: most of that gets decided quietly while everyone else is arguing about flavors.
Blue also keeps the running log of what has already been filmed, which saved us from re-shooting the same gag three times last spring. It is a spreadsheet with no formatting and column headers that only make sense to one person.
The whiteboard in the corner is where the questionnaire responses live. People write questions on it when they come through, we answer the ones we can, and the unanswered ones are still active after two years. Blue erased exactly one of them and will not say which.
How Blue Changed The Way We Film Shorts
Short vertical video rewards reaction over explanation, and Blue figured that out before any of us did. Social video consumption keeps climbing, with Pew Research reporting that YouTube reaches roughly 83 percent of U.S. adults, so the margin between a clip that holds people and one that loses them is a second or two of face.
Our shortest edits are now about seven seconds. The structure is almost always the same: someone sets up something stupid, Blue reacts, cut. We tried adding dialogue to fill the back half and retention dropped by around 15 percent.
Most of what you see from Blue day to day lands on our Instagram before it gets anywhere else, usually because that is where the bad takes go first.
The Five Questions We’re Putting To A Vote In 2026
We are going to settle some of this. Starting this year, we are letting the audience vote on which unanswered Blue question gets an actual on-camera answer each quarter, and Blue has agreed to the terms, reluctantly, in writing.
The ballot so far includes the cup, the age, the ladder, the laundromat sighting and whether Blue has ever actually liked blue raspberry. The most-read answer will probably be the cup. Our money is on the ladder being the one Blue refuses.
Voting runs through the same channels as our free merch drops every 10K subs, so if you are already in for that you are already in for this.
Frequently Asked Questions
Who Is Blue In The Slushy Bros?
Blue is one of the four core Slushy Bros and has appeared in every video since the fourth upload. Blue is the quietest member of the group, handles most of the behind-the-camera logistics, and is best known for reaction shots rather than dialogue.
Why Does Blue Barely Speak On Camera?
It started as a practical issue with a single microphone in the first dozen videos and became the format. Our tests with Blue in a speaking lead role performed worse on retention every time, so the silence stayed.
Is Blue Raspberry A Real Flavor?
Blue raspberry is loosely based on the whitebark raspberry, but the color comes from Blue No. 1 food dye, not the fruit. The flavor was popularized in the 1970s so frozen products could stand out next to cherry and strawberry on a freezer shelf.
How Many Questions About Blue Are Still Unanswered?
There are 14 open questions on the studio whiteboard as of early 2026, and five of them go to a public vote this year. The rest stay up until someone either answers them or quietly erases them.
Where Can I Read More About The Other Slushy Bros?
Each Bro has a write-up on the blog, and Red’s is the one most people read first. The group origin story, including how the costumes happened, covers how the four of us ended up in matching outfits in the first place.
